The Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) secured 34 seats to the People’s National Party’s (PNP) 29, in what Holness himself called “a personal challenge” after a bruising campaign riddled with allegations and political mudslinging.

Standing before jubilant supporters at Belmont Road, Holness quoted Sizzla with fire in his voice: “No weapon formed against me shall prosper… they just can’t stop me now.” But he didn’t stop at defiance.
