For British Overseas Territories Citizens (BOTCs) living in the UK, the journey to full British citizenship is more accessible than ever. Many people assume they need to pay hefty lawyer fees or sit through costly consultations, but the truth is the process can be completed entirely online. The UK Home Office provides a straightforward application route through the official Nationality BOS form, allowing you to take control of your future without unnecessary expenses.

If you're a British Overseas Territories Citizen (BOTC) living outside the UK, you can still apply for British citizenship using the Nationality BOS online form. The Home Office allows overseas applicants to complete the form digitally, making the process more accessible no matter where you reside. However, you’ll need to ensure you meet all eligibility requirements and have access to a biometric enrolment centre in your country or region.

Once your application is submitted, you’ll be guided step by step. The system will provide details on how to book and attend your biometric appointment, where you’ll give fingerprints, photographs, and copies of the required documents. This ensures your identity is verified and your application progresses smoothly. By choosing the online route, you avoid delays and keep the process transparent, with all instructions coming directly from the Home Office.

As of April 2025, the fee to register as a British citizen for BOTCs is £1,070, payable at the time of application. This covers the Home Office’s processing costs and secures your place in the system. With the online method, you remain in control, save money, and avoid hidden charges. Once your application is submitted and your biometrics are complete, the Home Office typically takes up to 6 months to process BOTC citizenship applications.
