Romaine was more than a dancer, more than a student, more than a teammate — he was a bright spirit whose presence lifted dancers, football fields and community spaces alike. His death has left a silence that feels impossible to fill, a reminder of how fragile and precious life is, and how deeply violence wounds a community.
The Anguilla Football Association honoured him with recognition through Eagle Claw FC, a gesture that reflects the respect he earned both on and off the field. Although 49‑year‑old Krishna Baijnauth of George Hill has been arrested and formally charged with murder and arson in connection with the death of Romaine, many in Anguilla say justice still feels distant. Romaine, who succumbed to stab wounds during the violent incident before his body was found near a burnt‑out vehicle, was only 35 years old. A life stolen so brutally can never truly be repaid, and closure remains a complicated, painful journey for those who loved him.
As the island grapples with this loss, one truth stands above all: Romaine’s life mattered. His dreams, his laughter, his dedication, his kindness — all of it mattered. Anguilla has lost a son, a friend, a teammate, a role model. In the face of tragedy, the community now carries the responsibility of honouring his legacy by demanding safety, unity and accountability.
