Four-Year-Old Boy and Father Found Dead After Desperate Search for Missing Child

A desperate search for a missing four-year-old boy and his father has ended in tragedy after both were found dead, days after authorities raised the alarm over the child's disappearance. The discovery came after an Amber Alert was issued when the boy's father reportedly failed to attend a planned custody handover, prompting concerns for the child's safety and an urgent effort to establish their whereabouts.

The pair were identified as four-year-old Andres “Harry” Furley and his 25-year-old father, Caleb Furley. Their bodies were discovered in Gainesville, Texas, on Wednesday, 14 October, following a search that began in Norman, Oklahoma.

Caleb Furley, 25, was the subject of an arrest warrant for alleged parental kidnapping after authorities said he failed to return his four-year-old son, Andres “Harry” Furley, for a scheduled handover with the child’s mother.

According to reports, Harry was last known to be with his father on Sunday evening, 11 October. Concerns escalated when Caleb failed to attend the scheduled exchange with the boy's mother.  Authorities subsequently issued an Amber Alert, a public warning system used to help locate missing children believed to be in immediate danger.

Police also sought Caleb in connection with a suspected parental kidnapping as investigators worked to trace the pair's movements. The investigation took a significant turn after Gainesville police received information suggesting the father and son had been seen at a local business.

A relative reportedly contacted officers early on Wednesday, 14 October, after learning of a possible sighting. Investigators reviewed surveillance footage that appeared to show a man and child matching the missing pair's descriptions walking away from the premises.

A search of the surrounding area followed, leading to the discovery of the bodies of an adult man and a child. Authorities subsequently confirmed that the missing father and son had been found.  The Texas Department of Public Safety Rangers are assisting with the investigation.

Four-year-old Andres “Harry” Furley’s death brings a heartbreaking end to a search for the missing child and his father.
