‘STOP WATCHING THEM’: Iyanla Vanzant Says Chrisean Rock and Blueface Are Being Rewarded for ‘Bad Behaviour’
Iyanla Vanzant has delivered a brutally direct message about Chrisean Rock and Blueface: stop watching them if you want the chaos to stop.
Speaking with Jason Lee on The Jason Lee Show, Iyanla Vanzant revealed she receives at least five emails a week from people asking her to help the pair, but said: “They don’t want it.” Her reasoning was simple and uncomfortable: controversial behaviour is being rewarded with attention and money.
“She makes a lot more money than I do,” Iyanla Vanzant said of Chrisean Rock, while criticising what she described as Rock “dishonouring herself” and “disrespecting herself as a woman”. She questioned why there would be an incentive to change when the behaviour itself continues to generate the kind of reward they want.
But Iyanla Vanzant did not leave the blame with Chrisean Rock and Blueface. She turned the spotlight directly onto the audience: “If everybody stop watching them, they would get it together or get clear or go away or whatever. But we buy into that.” BET similarly promoted the exchange around the idea that the “chaos keeps paying” and that viewers are part of the problem.
That may be the biggest sting in her argument. Iyanla Vanzant is effectively challenging people who condemn the drama while continuing to consume it. Every click, view and viral conversation keeps attention on the very behaviour audiences claim they want to disappear.
Her message ultimately raises a provocative question bigger than Chrisean Rock and Blueface: if millions of people stopped watching tomorrow, would the chaos still be worth performing?
