Campaigners argue that Britain has a moral duty to act, citing Jamaica’s historic contributions to the UK. From fighting in Britain’s wars to rebuilding its cities during the Windrush era, Jamaicans have played a vital role in shaping modern Britain. Today, King Charles remains Jamaica’s Head of State, underscoring the enduring ties between the two nations.

“Humanitarian visas should have been offered immediately,” said one petition participant. “The fact that Jamaicans must rely on a petition to demand basic compassion is unacceptable. Britain cannot turn its back on a country that has stood with it for generations.”

The petition calls for:

They argue that Jamaicans deserve the same urgency and compassion.  “This is not charity—it is justice,” the petition states. “Families are suffering, children are missing school, and elders are without care. Britain must act now.”
